Amaravati ORR & IRR: October tenders, routes and access
Four NHAI construction tenders now cover the Amaravati ORR. Read the package values and dates alongside separately dated IRR plans and reported interchange locations.
Property Desk research context
NHAI published four construction tenders for the six-lane, access-controlled Amaravati Outer Ring Road on 2 October 2026. The public records, rechecked on 4 October, describe Hybrid Annuity Mode contracts. This is a construction-tender milestone; the records checked do not establish awards, work commencement or an opening date. [10][11][12][13]
2 October 2026: four ORR construction packages
| Package and tender ID | Locality labels | Design chainage, km | Listed tender value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 — 2026_NHAI_293148_1 | Kanchikacherla–Nandigama | 189.000–189.930 and 0.000–27.000 | ₹2,975.47 Cr |
| 2 — 2026_NHAI_293150_1 | Nandigama–Davuluru | 27.000–83.000 | ₹2,864.69 Cr |
| 3 — 2026_NHAI_293151_1 | Kolavennu–Kornepadu; Narakoduru spur | 83.000–133.500; spur 0.000–5.300 | ₹2,827.95 Cr |
| 4 — 2026_NHAI_293153_1 | Kornepadu–Kanchikacherla | 133.500–189.000 | ₹2,869.59 Cr |
The four listed values total ₹11,537.70 Cr. That total is our arithmetic from the tender fields, not an awarded contract total, expenditure figure or all-in project cost. The main-ring chainages add to 189.93 km; Package 3 separately includes a 5.30 km Narakoduru spur. Ring plus spur therefore gives 195.23 km. These are calculations from the records, not field measurements. [10][11][12][13]
All four public pages display 18 November 2026 at 11:00 as the bid-submission deadline and 19 November at 11:30 as bid opening. Each lists 1,095 days as the work period. The portal fields do not print a timezone. Dates can be amended, and a work duration alone does not establish when its contractual clock starts or when traffic will be allowed. [10][11][12][13]
The detail fields were readable; the underlying NIT PDFs and amendments have not been verified for this update. If a session-dependent detail link fails, search the Government eProcurement portal by the full tender ID. Check the live record and amendments before relying on a deadline.
Davuluru and Kolavennu are the locality labels used around the 83 km package boundary. Use alignment drawings to relate them precisely. Neither a package title nor the historical interchange table below identifies an individual property’s approved ramp connection.
How to read the earlier ORR and IRR sections
The sections below retain separately dated planning and media references, originally checked on 3 September 2026. The October ORR procurement update does not authenticate the earlier reported 19-interchange list or establish an IRR construction award. The IRR consultancy deadline quoted below is historical, not a current invitation to bid.
PIB’s 4 February 2026 description of the ORR records a 189.93 km regional route serving Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali. The IRR’s 96.25 km figure comes from APCRDA’s 2018 notified plan. These are different roads and different dated records. [1][2]
A plot beside a ring-road alignment is not automatically beside an entry ramp. Likewise, a road described as having a 30 km radius is not necessarily 30 km from every part of Amaravati. This guide brings together the dimensions, reported ORR entry/exit locations and historical IRR junctions, while keeping planning information separate from usable access.
Amaravati ORR vs IRR: length, width and lanes
These figures come from different dated records. They should not be read as one newly approved construction specification.
| Metric | Inner Ring Road | Outer Ring Road |
|---|---|---|
| Route length | 96.25 km in the 2018 notified plan | 189.93 km in PIB's 4 February 2026 update |
| Equivalent-circle radius, calculated | About 15.3 km | About 30.2 km |
| Right of way | 75 metres in the 2018 plan | 150 metres in a historical proposal; 140 metres subsequently reported |
| Main carriageway | Eight lanes in the 2018 plan | Six lanes in the February 2025 central notification |
| Service roads | Two lanes on each side in the 2018 plan | Final service-lane configuration not independently confirmed here |
The IRR dimensions and cross-section appear in APCRDA's 2018 report, sections 4.8 and 9 [2]. ORR length and main-lane references are in the 2026 PIB release [1] and 21 February 2025 Gazette notification [3]. The ORR width history is explained below.
Amaravati ORR entry and exit points: 19 reported locations
April 2026 reporting identifies 19 proposed interchanges. The complete reported list is below, including the Kaja spur connection. These are reported planning locations, not verified operational exits or an independently authenticated final NHAI interchange schedule. Samayam Telugu, 11 April 2026 [4]
The reference numbers follow the reporting; they are not confirmed highway exit numbers. Approximate kilometres describe positions along the reported alignment, not distances from Amaravati city centre. M9's dated interchange table [5]
| Report reference | Reported location | Approx. alignment km | Reported connection |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kanchikacherla | Start | Vijayawada–Hyderabad highway |
| 2 | Ponnavaram | 4 | Chevitikallu–Jujjuru–Errupalem road |
| 3 | Duggiralapadu | 18 | Vijayawada–Khammam corridor |
| 4 | Mylavaram vicinity | 31 | Bhadrachalam-bound highway |
| 5 | Boddanapalli | 42–43 | Vijayawada–Nuzvid road |
| 6 | Agiripalli | 48 | Nuzvid connection |
| 7 | Pottipadu | 66 | Kolkata–Chennai highway |

| 18 | Balusupadu | 170–171 | Pedakurapadu–Amaravati road |
| 19 | Kaja / Kaza | Spur connection | NH-16 |
Locations and road connections follow the Samayam report [4]; approximate alignment kilometres follow M9's table [5]. Both reports are dated 11 April 2026.
Kaja needs special attention: the reported nineteenth interchange belongs to the connecting spur. It should not be described as the end of the entire ring. Place names and landmarks also need checking against the eventual interchange drawings; the college reference is not an exact mapped location.
Amaravati Inner Ring Road: route and key junctions
APCRDA's 2018 report lists the following 13 proposed interchanges. This is a historical planning reference, not a claim that the junctions are built or unchanged today. APCRDA report, section 4.9 [2]
| Location | Planned connection |
|---|---|
| Kethanakonda | NH-65 |
| Vaddamanu | E-3 |
| Vadhamanu, spelling used in the report | E-5 |
| Karlapudi | E-7 |
| Karlapudi | E-9 |
| Peddaparimi | E-11 |
| Peddaparimi–Tadikonda | E-13 |
| Tadikonda | N-13 |
| Chinakakani | NH-16 |
| Penamaluru | NH-65 |
| Nidamanuru | NH-16 |
| Vedurupavuluru | NH bypass |
| Kondapalli | NH-30 |
The same report's final-notification section divides the alignment into:
- Phase I: 67.57 km, Kethanakonda–Vedurupavuluru via Chinakakani.
- Phase II: 28.68 km, returning via Kondapalli.
These are the report's final-notification phase figures, rather than its earlier draft-phase numbers. APCRDA report, section 9.1 [2]
IRR background: the August 2026 DPR-update tender
When checked on 3 September 2026, AGICL’s register showed a consultancy tender initiated on 31 August to revalidate and update the 2019 IRR Detailed Project Report, with a stated 15 September deadline. This is retained as a dated design-review record; its present procurement outcome has not been verified here. It is not an IRR construction award or opening announcement. Reference 19/MD/CE/AGICL/2026. [6]
That is why historical junctions and dimensions need their dates attached. A familiar number in an old map should not silently become a promise about the eventual road.
What is the radius of a 190 km ring road?
If the road were a perfect circle, its radius would be:
Radius = circumference ÷ (2 × π)
For a 190 km circumference, that gives 190 ÷ 6.2832 ≈ 30.24 km. The corresponding diameter would be about 60.5 km.
This is an equivalent-circle calculation, not an official planned radius or a measured distance from a named landmark. An actual alignment bends around terrain, settlements and engineering constraints. Its distance from a chosen centre can vary by direction.
The same method explains the approximately 15.3 km IRR figure in the comparison table. Neither calculation can identify whether a particular village or plot lies inside the actual alignment. For that, use a dated route map and the property's verified location.
Road width and service lanes: what the comparison misses
Is the Amaravati ORR 140 or 150 metres wide?
The figures belong to different records. APCRDA's March 2017 project report proposed a 150-metre ORR corridor, alongside a different length and eight-lane concept. Subsequent July 2025 reporting described a 140-metre corridor. Combining these into “140–150 metres” hides the change in proposal. APCRDA's March 2017 report [7], Times of India, 5 July 2025 [8]
For property-specific research, obtain the current approved cross-section and land schedule for the relevant stretch. Neither a historical width nor a newspaper summary establishes the exact road reservation affecting an individual property.
Does “two service roads” mean “two service lanes”?
No. A service road can itself contain multiple lanes. Two lanes on each side would mean four service lanes in total. Road count and lane count are different measurements.
Likewise, right of way means the overall corridor, not just the asphalt used by through-traffic. A wider reservation does not by itself tell you the number of driving lanes, the completed width or the access available beside a plot.
The ORR description “6 express lanes + 2 service lanes” should therefore remain unconfirmed until a current official cross-section supports that exact configuration.
Reading an Amaravati ORR route map for property research
The February 2026 government update describes the ORR's intended regional-connectivity role around Amaravati, Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali. That purpose is different from proving local access to a particular property. PIB's project description [1]
When someone describes a listing as “near ORR” or “near IRR”, ask four practical questions:
- Which alignment and date? Ask for the source map and its planning status.
- Near which interchange? Identify the proposed ramp connection, not just the nearest point on the road line.
- How would you reach it? Check the connecting road, permitted access and present on-ground conditions.
- What remains unchecked? Keep road-reservation questions, property boundaries, ownership documents and approval status separate.
For example, a plot could be 500 metres from a road line but several kilometres from an entry point. That is an illustration, not a measurement of a particular Amaravati property. Straight-line proximity and usable driving access answer different questions.
No confirmed opening date for either complete ring road was established from the sources reviewed for this article. A notification, planning evaluation or consultancy tender is not evidence that a full route is open to traffic.
Frequently asked questions
Does a flyover or underpass automatically provide a ring-road exit?
No. A crossing can let one road pass above or below another without connecting the two. Look for the actual entry and exit ramps in the relevant junction drawing.
Where can I find the official Amaravati IRR route map?
Start with APCRDA's IRR master-plan page [9], which lists the 31 October 2018 Gazette, proceedings, report and plan. Check for subsequent revisions before using the historical plan for a present-day decision. The ORR interchange table above is a reported location guide, not an official alignment map.
Does being inside a ring road establish property approval?
No. Being inside or near an infrastructure alignment does not establish a property's title, layout approval, permitted use, access rights or purchase clearance. Those need their own evidence. Proximity also does not guarantee future price appreciation.
Start with the property, then check the road connection
The useful question is not simply whether a plot is near a 190 km ORR or a 96 km IRR. It is whether the identified property has a practical connection to the relevant junction, what exists today, and which parts remain proposed.
Share your preferred locality, budget and property type with Amaravati Property Desk, along with any listing or map you are considering. Use that brief to compare the property's current details, source-backed planning context and unresolved checks before arranging a visit.
